General Note(s):A light ship maintained the same number throughout its life span; these floating aids to navigation also carried the name of the station at which they were assigned for the term of service at that particular location. For example, at the Fire Island site, off the New York coast, light ship LV-58 served from 1896-97, and LV-68 served from 1897-1930. Light ship LV-58 also served at Nantucket Shoals from 1894-96.
