Arrangement:Arranged in two broad groups by decade produced (1950s and 1960s), thereunder alphabetically by agency's regional production-distribution center, thereunder alphabetically by agency's country outpost, and thereunder alphabetically by poster title.
Function and Use:The Publications Division and its predecessor compiled these posters as a central reference source for visual propaganda distributed through the agency's regional centers in Manila, Beirut, and Mexico City to populations worldwide. Posters were designed to promote U.S. political, cultural, and economic values, to expose alleged Communist falsehoods, threats, and crimes, and to strengthen understanding of and support for U.S. objectives in the Cold War.

Finding Aid Note:The shelf list contains the production-distribution forms generated for the posters by the agency staff at the Manila, Beirut, and Mexico City regional centers. Each form lists the title in English, publication date and quantity, language version, and distribution outlets for the respective poster or poster set. Copies of the shelf list are located in the research room and with the records.
